Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this Equal-i-zer weight distribution shank. Now this is a shank for your Equal-i-zer weight distribution system and this is a solid steel piece that's designed to slide directly into your truck's two-and-a-half inch trailer hitch receiver. So this is going to obviously give you the mounting point for your weight distribution head assembly. Now, if you're setting up or you're upgrading your Equal-i-zer system, this is the component that actually connects the system to your vehicle.
One of the big benefits is going to be the adjustability. This has six adjustment holes which are gonna let you position the head assembly at the right height. That way you can properly level your trailer with your tow vehicle, which is obviously key for safe and stable towing. Now, you can use this in either the drop position, as I have it right now, or you can flip this over and use it in the rise position. If you do use this in the rise position, that's going to give you up to about a 10-inch rise.
In the drop position, it's gonna be about a six-inch drop. This is built from dipped steel, so it is designed to resist corrosion and hold up over time. As far as capacity goes, this is made for heavier duty applications. So the maximum tongue weight is gonna be 1600 pounds. The maximum gross towing weight is going to be 16,000 pounds.
Let me give you some measurements before I leave you. Looking at the overall length, we are sitting right at 16 inches, and then the overall height looks like right at about 11-and-a-half inches. So this is substantial and it is built for serious towing setups.
